Following the Pledge of Allegiance [“under God"] led by Pres. Laurie the meeting was called to order at 07:45 at Glorias’ Restaurant where another tasty repast was enjoyed by all attending. Fifteen members and one guest were in attendance representing 9 clubs with Keene Valley absent.
ROLL CALL: all officers present.
TREASURER’S REPORT: The treasurer’s report was given by Treasurer Claude Aubin. All bills paid-motion to accept by Charlie Martin-seconded by Poore Ray Wynn. Claude also included a 12 page report explaining the new CWD regulations from Colonel R. Lucas of DEC Law enforcement. This is a comprehensive report. Thanks, Claude.

OLD BUSINESS: No old business.
REGION V REPORT: Stu Buchanan from the Region V headquarters gave a report on the newly adopted Deer Hunting regulations which was mostly for the Southern Tier but there were a couple for the Northern Zone. Namely, a minor change to the special muzzleloader seasons in WMUs 6A-6G-and 6H that will allow the taking of deer of either sex . Was previously antlerless deer only. Stu also stated that the Deer Management permits have been reduced by 40% and the nuisance permits will be enforced more than in the past. The League members thanked Stu for coming down.
NYSDEC Burea of Wildlife Report : Sea Lamprey control going good. Charlie Martin reported that there were several small lampreys on 7 salmon but 3 were released with no marks. Fisheries trapped 100 adult Sea Lampreys on Beaver Brook [near Westport]. Whitefish have been successfully stocked in Rock Pond, Essex Co. which also contains a native strain of brook trout. Ticonderoga boat launch completed except for auxiliary parking lots. Cormorants have 35 nests at Crown Point with a flock of 200-300 birds. DEC is addressing the situation. Bruce Patnode reported that the access road to the Willsboro boat launch is in rough condition. A record season for number of Fisher trapped. Nearly 2900 taken with 1400 caught in Region V. The Vanderacker UMP includes new hiking trails to Wolf Pond, Vanderwhacker Pond and Santanoni. Also, lean-tos to be constructed on Cheney Pond and Wolf Pond.
Communications: Rec’d the normal newsletters from the other clubs and federations. Got a letter and a donation from the Barkeaters sent by Joe Pete Wilson. Sent a thank you note. Claude A. noted that the south branch of the Bouquet river upside of the Lee Bridge is posted on both sides making stocking stocking difficult to say the least.
NEW BUSINESS Report of the Westport Fair meeting was given by George TeFoe. Conservation area in good shape. Some upright posts need to be replaced. Expect to use duck pond for Pheasants. A workday is to be decided at the Westport Fair Grounds meeting. Bluebird exhibit to return plus the Archery shoot which did well last year. The fair is held the 3 rd week in August.
News Flash: Crown Point Reservation restoration in the works including the dock. The town of Lewis Bicentennial Comm. Invited the League to enter a float in the Parade Aug. 6th, 11AM.
