      • Fosters communication within and across the organization; and
      • Provides an equal opportunity for every member to become a Regional Director or Officer.

  • Represent the sportspersons of New York:
    • Be recognized as the voice of the sportspersons of New York;
    • Have the ability to poll the membership on issues affecting CANY's mission;
    • Have the ability to deliver, in a timely manner, the members' position on those issues; and
    • Employ a President and staff charged with implementing
    • Board policy and carrying out CANY's resolutions.

  • Aid in the formulation and implementation of scientifically sound programs and policies that will lead to the conservation (wise-use) and management of the State's renewable natural resources in a manner that assures their availability for current and future generations:
    • Maintain a working relationship with the Dept. of Environmental Conservation (DEC) at the executive, regional, and staff levels;
    • Maintain working relationships with other organizations in a manner that enables CANY to form and/or participate in coalitions on issues related to our mission; and

  • Be recognized as a political force for the conservation, protection, and, where appropriate, the preservation of our renewable natural resources.

  • Develop educational program/s intended to provide an understanding by New York's citizens of our tie to the land; the need to professionally manage our renewable resources; the difference between conservation and preservation; the ethics associated with the use of those renewable natural resources for sustainable purposes including, but not limited to, fishing, hunting, trapping, timber harvest, and other activities which use those resources.

  • Provide a vehicle for recognizing those individuals and organizations that make a significant contribution consistent with our mission.

  • Coordinate, where appropriate, the efforts of individuals and organizations that share our philosophy on conservation
